After unveiling the refreshed Countryman in May last year, Mini has now launched it in India. It is available in two petrol-fed variants – Cooper S and Cooper S JCW (John Cooper Works) Inspired. The former has a price tag of Rs 39.5 lakh, whereas the latter, at Rs 43.4 lakh, costs Rs 3.9 lakh more. Mini is now taking bookings and offering test drives of the newly launched vehicle. One can conduct either of those tasks at all Mini authorised dealerships and the Mini Online Shop.
No matter which variant you opt for, the Countryman facelift will come with the same engine. That’s a 2.0-litre, turbocharged mill producing 189bhp/280Nm. The Cooper S packs a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, but the Cooper S JCW Inspired derivative gets a sportier version of the same gearbox. Mini claims that the refreshed Countryman can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 7.4 seconds and reach 225kmph at full stretch.
In terms of features, the Countryman in Cooper S form offers stuff like LED-powered headlamps, taillamps and DRLs, auto-dimming IRVM and ORVMs, panorama glass roof, automatic tailgate operation, two-zone climate control and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The more expensive Cooper S JCW Inspired variant ropes in extra features such as a comfort access system, a Harman Kardon sound system, a head-up display, support for wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless mobile charger, 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a JCW body kit.
Mini has devised an ‘Absolute Value’ offer for the Countryman facelift. For a fixed EMI, customers can own the refreshed model for 3 or 4 years with the following add-ons:
- Service Inclusive Plus
- Repair Inclusive
- Mini Secure
- Assured buy-back value with Mini 360-degree
- Loyalty and Trade-in offers
- 20 per cent discount on Mini Accessories & Lifestyle
The offer mentioned above is for those who book the Countryman by the end of June 2021. Mini is offering the car in six colours, two out of which are new – Sage Green and White Silver. The other options are Midnight Black, Chilli Red, Island Blue and British Racing Green.
In India, the Mini Countryman competes with the Volvo XC40 and BMW X1. Soon, the new Mercedes-Benz GLA and the new Audi Q3 will join the party. Which one would be your choice?
