In January 2021, Volvo Cars India commenced accepting bookings for the all-new S60. You can read about that car in our review. In the following month, the carmaker announced that Charles Frump would be passing on the baton to Jyoti Malhotra. In other words, the latter would become the new managing director for the brand in India. And that came into effect from March 1, 2021.
With those changes out of the way, the Swedish brand has now panned out a car business plan in India. In addition to expanding its footprint to enter newer markets, Volvo Cars India will also launch new products, take away diesel offerings and focus on an ambitious target for 2025.

New S90 and XC60

Volvo India’s electrification plan
After launching the XC40 Recharge in 2021, Volvo Cars India will introduce one electric model every year. That points towards the C40 Recharge, the all-electric crossover that was revealed earlier this month. Although there’s no launch date set just yet, the C40 Recharge should arrive in India by the end of 2022. Volvo Cars India has set itself an ambitious target – by 2025, 80 per cent of its sales will come from electric vehicles.
On a global level, Volvo will introduce five new EVs by 2025. By 2030, it aims to become an EV-only brand. Do you like how Volvo is planning its future?
