Volkswagen Ameo Sport Edition

Volkswagen has had a rather quiet start to the year 2018. The entire automotive group even missed the 2018 Auto Expo. But it is trying to make it up by launching special editions of its Polo, Ameo and Vento cars. They are called Sport Editions and are based on the Highline variants of their respective models.

Volkswagen is giving away the Sport Editions at the same price as the standard Highline variants of all three cars. That means the cosmetic changes which inject a bit of sportiness into their character are coming at no cost to the customer. The changes include a glossy black and side foil, rear spoiler finished in glossy black and carbon finish on OVRM (outer rear view mirror) caps. Additionally, Volkswagen has launched a marketing campaign wherein people test driving any of the Volkswagen products stand a chance to win a Sport Edition model. All they need to do is write a slogan following the #BeASport.

In a press release, Steffan Knapp, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said:

Volkswagen carlines endows the characteristics of the #BeASport campaign, offering the precision, power and performance as demanded by the Indian customers. With our special editions, we aim to reinstate the cheer, fun and the spirit of driving among our prospective customers this sports season.

All three models are for sale for a limited time. That said, it isn’t the first time Volkswagen has taken the liberty to slap on a bunch of cosmetic enhancements and roll out special editions of its models in India. Prices? Well, the Polo Sport starts at Rs 6.93 lakh; the Ameo Sport starts at Rs 8.30 lakh, and the Vento Sport starts at Rs 10.70 lakh. (all prices ex-showroom).
