It is safe to say that even though the Toyota Yaris is on offer with just a petrol engine, it is by far the most expensive amongst its rivals. Don’t even expect Toyota to bother adding an option for a diesel engine for the Yaris.
As stated above, the only engine on offer is a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 107PS of power and 140Nm of torque. However, there is an option to choose from a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed CVT (continuously variable transmission). Unlike any of its rivals, the Yaris offers both transmissions in all variants. As far as mileage figures are concerned, the Toyota Yaris returns 17.1kmpl with the manual transmission and 17.8kmpl with the CVT.
In terms of features, the Toyota Yaris is the first of the lot to offer seven airbags as standard across all its variants. Other standard features include 4-speaker music system with Bluetooth and other usual feed-in options, cooled glovebox, 60:40 rear split seats, ABS with EBD and BA, all four power windows and height adjustable driver’s seat. As you move up the variants ladder, features like 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps and wipers, cruise control, leather upholstery, tyre pressure monitoring system and 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat come in.
