Say hello to the refreshed Maruti Suzuki Dzire! Prices start at Rs 5.89 lakh and go up to Rs 8.81 lakh. Depending on the variant, the sedan demands a premium ranging between Rs 6,000 and Rs 22,000 more over the corresponding derivative of the pre-facelift model. That’s because, in addition to a revamped exterior and interior, the Dzire facelift packs more kit and a gutsier petrol engine. Before getting to those, acquaint yourself with the new price list:
As you can see, there are no diesel-fed variants on offer any more. That’s Maruti Suzuki sticking to its original plan of not offering any BS6-compliant (Bharat Stage 6) diesel models. As for the Dzire, it had already gained BS6 compliance in its pre-facelift form. Now, however, it comes with a new 1.2-litre petrol engine (K12C DualJet) that also powers the Baleno. It produces 89bhp/113Nm, and that means it offers 6bhp more. As standard, it comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. However, it is also available with an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). That’s a first. As for the claimed mileage figures, the petrol-MT returns as much as 23.26kmpl and the petrol-AMT can go as high as 24.12kmpl.
Although Maruti Suzuki has equipped the Dzire facelift with the idle start-stop functionality, there’s no mild-hybrid system in the mix. The reason behind the exclusion is simple: to keep the costs in check. In terms of features, the refreshed sedan gets Maruti Suzuki’s new infotainment system, which offers support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Apart from that, the car also gets auto-folding ORVMs, a coloured MID and cruise control. Variants equipped with AMT also get Hill Hold Assist and Electronic Stability Programme as standard.
Anything left? Oh yes, the design changes inside and out. The most notable change outdoors include the more prominent front grille and a restyled front bumper, which also houses new fog lamps. Indoors, the sedan gets new dual-tone upholstery and some faux-wood inserts. The rest of the package remains unaltered.
In India, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire competes with the Hyundai Aura, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze and the Tata Tigor. Do you think that the petrol-only nature will hurt Dzire’s dominance in the segment?
