Lamborghini has taken the wraps off the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae. It is the last production model of Lambo’s V12 flagship, and it packs the most punch. Think of it as the limited-run Aventador SVJ and the Aventador S have come together to deliver the grand finale. And yes, the Aventador Ultimae is available as a coupe and a roadster. However, Lamborghini won’t produce more than 600 units of the new derivative.
What becomes the last hurrah of the iconic Aventador range packs a 6.5-litre, naturally aspirated V12. It produces 770bhp, about 10bhp more than the Aventador SVJ and 40bhp more than the Aventador S. The torque peaks at 720Nm. With that oomph, slick 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and permanent all-wheel-drive system, the Aventador Ultimae coupe complete the 0-100kmph sprint in 2.8 seconds, reach 200kmph in 8.7 seconds and clock 355kmph flat out. Get the roadster, and both those acceleration figures go up by just a 10th of a second. The top speed is identical.
Of course, those performance numbers are not just down to the grunt alone. Lamborghini engineers have worked hard to keep the Aventador Ultimae lightweight, and there’s a fair bit of aerodynamic trickery in the mix too. Compared to the Aventador S, the latest iteration in coupe form weighs 25kg less. The LP 780-4 also features a unique front bumper offering similar longitudinal performance as the SVJ.
Other features that help tame the V12 bull include the four-wheel steering, the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva and an active rear wing. There’s also a choice of drive modes – Strada, Sport and Corsa. The Italians have also equipped the Aventador Ultimae with an Ego mode. That allows the driver to adjust settings for the active suspension system, multiple traction controls (engine, gearbox and all-wheel-drive) and steering.
Buyers of the final Aventador deserve special treatment. Hence, Lamborghini has created a new palette of options for exterior and interior finishes for owners of the 350 coupes and 250 roadsters. As standard, there are 18 colours to choose from. Those who don’t want any of them can pay for one in the 300 shades available through Lamborghini Ad Personam. In addition, there are options for the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear alloys, both of which come wrapped with Pirelli PZero Corsa tyres.
The Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae makes its world premiere at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. So, how do you like it?
