Saar: Based on the XT variant, it is available with petrol and diesel engines.

Tata Motors has launched a limited edition variant of its sub-4 metre sedan. It is called the Tigor Buzz and it is available with petrol and diesel engines. While the former is priced at Rs 5.68 lakh, the latter wears a price tag of Rs 6.57 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Delhi). Essentially, the Tigor Buzz gets an accessory kit on top of the standard XT variant. We confess that our predictions of it being based on the XM variant have been proved wrong.

Anyway, if you compare the prices of the standard XT petrol- and diesel-fed variants, the Tigor Buzz is approximately Rs 12,000 dearer in both forms. So, what are you paying the extra amount for? On the outside, the Tigor Buzz comes with a glossy black painted roof, piano black ORVMs (outside rear view mirrors), dual-tone wheel covers with coloured accents, front grille with coloured inserts and a limited edition badge. Inside the cabin, the AC vents have berry-red coloured surrounds and differently textured seat fabric.

The rest of the kit remains identical to the standard XT trim. That means you still get a double-din music system mated to a 4-speaker sound system, steering mounted audio and phone controls, driver seat belt reminder, ABS with EBD and CSC, front fog lamps and rear parking sensors. There is no change in the mechanical department too. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine and the 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder diesel mill are offered with only the 5-speed manual transmission with the Tigor Buzz. While the former produces 85PS/114Nm, the latter has 70Nm/140Nm on tap.

The Tata Tigor has a formidable rivalry. It takes on the Volkswagen Ameo, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire (facelift coming soon), Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and the king of the segment – Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
