It’s like every second day we have an announcement of an upcoming price hike. This time around it is Tata Motors that has joined the bandwagon of all the carmakers who will be increasing the prices of their products from January 1, 2019. Tata Motors has announced that it will be hiking the prices of all its models by up to Rs 40,000, depending on the model and city. The decision has been taken to counterbalance the impact of rising input costs and the increase in fuel prices.
Here’s what Mayank Pareek, who is the president of passenger vehicle business unit at Tata Motors Ltd., said in an official release:
“The changing market conditions, rising input costs and various external economic factors have compelled us to consider this price increase. We are optimistic about maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming year on the back of our robust portfolio consisting of segment-leading products like Tiago, Hexa, Tigor and the Nexon.”
He further added:
“Early 2019 will also mark the entrance of our most awaited SUV – the Harrier. We are confident that the Harrier will receive all the love from our existing and prospective customers and will further help us in strengthening our brand salience.”
As far as the Tata Harrier is concerned, it will launch in January 2019. Bookings for the same began in October this year with a minimum token amount of Rs 30,000. The Harrier is being touted as an important product for the company as it is targeted at products like the Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500. Tata Motors has revealed all but the price of the Harrier. If it is what you are looking for, click here to accustom yourself with what all will be on offer. Spoiler alert: There’s no sunroof.
