It isn’t a secret that the Indian automotive industry is going through a rough phase. So much so that several carmakers have had to cut down production to clear overloaded inventories. Among those players who practised no-production days was Tata Motors. In a bid to improve sales, the homegrown automaker has decided to kickstart festive season activities early this year. The first campaign is tagged ‘Festival of Cars’, and under it, buyers can avail a range of benefits on specific models.

So, is it possible to break ‘benefits’ down to its bare bones? Umm, No. That’s because Tata Motors itself hasn’t bothered to share the details. What it has shared, however, is how much the benefits are worth. The entire Tiago range, except for the JTP derivative, the company is offering benefits of up to Rs 70,000. That figure for the Tigor sedan goes up to Rs 1.15 lakh. For the Nexon and the Harrier, Tata Motors is offering up to Rs 85,000 and Rs 50,000 worth of benefits, respectively. If you’ve been eyeing the Hexa, now is the best time to get one as benefits of up to Rs 1.5 lakh are up for grabs.

Done digesting the numbers? Now let’s understand what they mean. They comprise of various discounts and offers, including cash benefits and exchange bonuses. Also, there are specific schemes for government employees and select corporates. Taking a slight detour down to speculation street – those figures might even include free insurance for the first or maybe more years. Apart from that, Tata Motors has also joined forces with multiple banks and financial institutions to offer up to 100 per cent on-road finance as well as low EMI finance packages. That should come quite handy for many. Tata Motors says that all of these benefits are region-dependant.

So, there you have it. The ‘Festival of Cars’ does seem like an enticing campaign. Honestly, it is the best time to buy a new car in India. The combination of a disrupted industry and new emission norms coming in from next fiscal has made carmakers desperate to vacate their vast inventories at the earliest.
