The world of mobile phones has led us to believe that anything with a ‘Pro’ tag is quantifiably better than the standard lot. Building on the same notion is Tata Motors. The homegrown automaker has introduced Pro Editions of five models – Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Hector and Hexa. Don’t get your hopes high. Mechanically, they remain unaltered.

To give birth to Pro Editions, Tata Motors devised model-dependent accessory kits. For the Tiago and Tigor, they cost Rs 29,999. When opted for, both models get a pop-up sunroof, ambient mood lighting, magnetic sunshades and an armrest. However, the Tiago also gets a camera with display in IRVM. In place of that, the Tigor receives a vehicle tracking system.

The Pro Package for Tata Nexon is essentially an extended version of that for the Tigor. Apart from a pop-up sunroof, magnetic sunshades, ambient mood lighting and vehicle tracking system, the sub-compact SUV also gets an app-based tyre pressure monitoring system and front parking sensors. The cost for all that is Rs 37,999.

Predictably, the Pro packages for the Hexa and Harrier cost significantly more. But before you turn that smile upside down, get this – their accessory kits deliver a darn good value. Both models get an automatic sunroof, front parking sensors, a wireless mobile holder, an app-based tyre pressure monitoring system and ambient mood lighting. The Harrier also gets sunshades, a bonnet mascot, chrome humanity line and chrome exhaust outlets. Considering that Harrier’s electric sunroof alone, without installation charges, costs more than Rs 95,000, the Pro Package at Rs 1,09,999 is not a bad deal at all. For the Hexa, Tata Motors will ask for Rs 99,999, which is fair.

A few days ago, Tata Motors launched its ‘Festival of Cars’ campaign under which it is offering benefits of up to Rs 1.5 lakh on select models. Now, bundle those savings along with these Pro Packages, and you can crack a pretty good deal. The deal might even make you forget that prices for both Hexa and Harrier were recently and very silently hiked.
