Have you booked a Tata car recently? Or, are you planning to do so shortly? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, then this concerns you. Tata Motors has announced that it will increase the prices of its models from May 8, 2021. Depending on the model and variant, the price hike will average around 1.8 per cent. So, if you answered yes to the second question mentioned above, book yours today to avoid paying anything extra.
Those who have already booked a Tata need to worry. The company will provide price protection to all the bookings made on or before May 7, 2021.
Here’s what Shailesh Chandra, who is the president of passenger vehicle business at Tata Motors Ltd., said about the upcoming price revision:
Increase in prices of commodities, such as steel and precious metals, necessitates us to pass on a part of it through increase in price of our products. This price increase will be effective for bookings made thereafter (effective May 8, 2021).
Last month, Tata Motors confirmed the onboarding of Martin Uhlarik as the new global design head. He was the head of design for Tata Motors European Technical Centre and brings 27 years of experience. He took over responsibilities from Pratap Bose, who decided to end his lustrous career at Tata Motors and move on to better opportunities. Reports suggest that he will be joining Mahindra & Mahindra as the head of design.
Presently, Tata Motors sells six models in the country. Tiago and Tigor are petrol-only offerings, whereas the Harrier and Safari come with a diesel engine only. The Altroz and Nexon, both of which have been well received, are available in petrol and diesel guises. Tata Motors also has two electric vehicles on offer – the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV. The latter has become the bestselling car of its type in India.
