Have you been planning to purchase a Tata car? If yes, do so before the end of the month. Tata Motors has announced that prices of its passenger vehicles will be hiked by up to Rs 25,000 from the month of April 2019. The main reasons behind this step are to counterbalance the effects of rising input costs and some external economic conditions which, as any company would tell you, are uncontrollable at its end.

Here’s what Mayank Pareek, who is the president of passenger vehicle business unit at Tata Motors Ltd., said in an official release:

The changing market conditions, rising input costs and various external economic factors have compelled us to consider this price increase. We are confident of maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming months on the back of our robust portfolio consisting of segment-leading products like Tiago, Hexa, Tigor, Nexon and the Harrier.

Later this year, Tata Motors will further strengthen its passenger vehicle portfolio by introducing the Altroz and the seven-seat H7X, both of which debuted at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show. At the same event, the homegrown automaker also showcased the Altroz EV and the H2X concept. While the former is slated to boast an all-electric power-plant with a range of at least 250km, the latter will take its production shape and wow onlookers at next year’s Auto Expo.

As for the Altroz hatchback, it will launch in mid-2019 as a direct competitor to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20. The H7X, which is essentially a bigger Harrier, will become Tata’s new flagship offering and lock horns with the Mahindra XUV500. Earlier this year, Tata Motors introduced the updated Hexa with some new features and a revised price list, which starts at Rs 12.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 18.20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
