Sketches Of Automobili Pininfarina Hypercar Surface
Saar: And so do some interesting scoops from the decision makers at the newly formed luxury EV brand.
Okay! Who remembers what Automobili Pininfarina (AP) is? If you do, that’s great. But if you don’t, allow us to enlighten you. It is a newly formed luxury EV brand by Mahindra-owned Pininfarina. However, the company describes itself as ‘the world’s newest sustainable luxury car brand’. Sure! At the launch event, which took place in Rome last week, the company announced that its first project is an all-electric hypercar, which will be launched in 2020. The company has now released a couple of sketches of the upcoming hypercar. Oh boy, do they look great!
As reported earlier, the hypercar is likely to churn out over 1900PS of power and complete the 0-100kmph sprint in less than 2 seconds. On a single charge, it will be able to run for 500km. The production numbers will be extremely limited and that’s a good decision. Why? Because it is expected to cost around 2 million Euro each! In other words, it is not for the masses!

Speaking to the guys at AutoClassics, the company revealed more info about its first project. We thought that Rimac, the Croatian electric car company which showcased its 1900+PS Concept Two at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, will be a direct competitor to the hypercar in question here. We were right. But what we didn’t know that Rimac will be the main partner of AP to develop its first car. What a surprise!
There are other details that have come to light. For instance, the AP hypercar will have four electric motors, one for each wheel, in its configuration. That will make it a four-wheel-drive vehicle. We know what the 0-100kmph time is. But can you guess how quickly will it get from a standstill to 300kmph? 12 seconds! Yes, 12! Top-speed will be 402kmph. We’ll give you time to digest those figures. The battery pack, like it is all electric go-fast cars, will live deep inside the belly of the car. Weight is expected to be around 2,000kg. So, if we are optimistic and expect 2000PS from the hypercar, mathematically it will have 1,000PS per tonne! For a reference point, that’s more than what you get from a Bugatti Chiron and nearly double of what we got from the original Bugatti Veyron.
