Saar: Scheduled to launch sometime next year, the C-segment crossover is destined to become the company’s flagship offering in Russia.

Only a week ago, Renault confirmed that its new C-segment crossover will be called as the Arkana. The company also revealed that the car in question will make its world premiere at the 2018 Moscow International Motor Show. Well, that day has arrived and the French automaker has taken the wraps off the new model. Renault defines Arkana as “a distinctive coupe-crossover” and will first launch it in Russia next year. Later, the Arkana will also be introduced to other Asian markets before moving on to other continents.

The Renault Arkana is a striking looking car. The C-shaped LED DRLs blend neatly into the upper lip of the chrome-draped front grille. The big Renault logo finds its place right in the centre of the studded grille inserts. The sleek headlamp enclosures feature a dual-barrel layout with LED-lit surrounds just like on a BMW. On the side, crossover’s bulk is complemented by 19-inch alloy wheels and a generous amount of ground clearance. Another aspect that accentuates the robustness factor is the use of plastic cladding on the bumpers, the sides and the flared wheel arches.

At the rear, the sporty two-tone bumper houses a faux diffuser which has two aluminium exhaust pipes at either end. The split taillamp enclosures also have a slim yet busy profile. Flanking the Renault logo are two wing-shaped LED brake lights which merge well with the taillamp enclosures on both sides. Just like a cherry on top of a cake, the Arkana has a panoramic sunroof. Unfortunately, Renault hasn’t released any images of the Arkana’s interior. Expect that to happen when Renault presents the production-ready specimen.

The Arkana will play a vital role in expanding Renault’s footprint in several countries around the globe. Renault has also confirmed that the new model “will have a line-up of latest generation powertrains, including a brand-new engine for the Russian market.” The Renault Arkana will also have four-wheel-drive options. As far as its chances of making an entry on our shores are concerned, they look bleak.
