When we come across the Land Rover-invented term SVAutobiography, we straightaway think of the Range Rover which has been conceived for those who want the perfect blend of absolute power and absolute luxury. Now though, there is a new Land Rover model which wears the same badge. The British carmaker has unveiled a new range-topping variant of its mid-size SUV and it is called the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition.
To set it apart from the rest of its range, Land Rover has given the Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition some bespoke design elements. On the outside, it features a new front bumper with larger air intakes. Those intakes are a welcome addition to cool the uprated brakes and the monster that lives under the bonnet. More on that in a bit. The front grille has also been tweaked in design. Apart from the lower side moulding, the new variant also gets a revised rear bumper which features integrated quad exhaust finishers.
There’s more, obviously! Velar fans will immediately tell you that the Range Rover lettering on the bonnet and the tailgate is somehow different and more prominent. To further up its exclusivity, the SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is the only Velar which is available in Satin Byron Blue paint for the body. The shade has been taken from Special Vehicle Operations’ premium palette range. The roof is finished in Narvik Black colour as standard. The exterior design enhancements also include the standard 21-inch alloys and red brake callipers. The options list includes 22-inch alloys and gloss-black brake callipers.
Inside the cabin, the new variant exclusively gets twin-stitched, perforated and quilted Windsor leather, which can be had in four colour combinations. As standard, the Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition gets 20-way power-adjustable, heated and cooled front seats with memory and massage functions. There’s also a bespoke sports steering wheel and several elements on the centre console and dashboard feature a knurled finish.
Powering the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 which puts out 550PS/680Nm. The oomph is harnessed and delivered to a beefier all-wheel-drive system by an 8-speed automatic transmission. Land Rover claims that the setup is enough for the new variant to sprint to 100kmph from a standstill in 4.5 seconds and reach 274kmph flat out. To announce its arrival anywhere, the new variant also gets a variable active exhaust system which is over 7kg lighter than the standard one.
Land Rover has launched the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition in the UK at a starting price of 86,120 GBP (approx. Rs 80.27 lakh at current exchange rates). Expect the Brits to waste little time and bring it over to our shores in the near future. If it does arrive here, it will come via the CBU route. And we all know what that does to the price tag!
