Like every other automobile manufacturer in the world, Porsche has faced the brunt of lockdown as well. COVID-19 has forced the German brand to restructure its plans, including model unveils. With the world under the global pandemic’s blanket, the only immediately feasible option is to take matters online. And that’s exactly what Porsche has planned! On May 18, 2020, (coming Monday), the Stuttgart-based player will embark on a journey never taken before. It will unveil two new 911 derivatives to the world via a three-episode web series. It will be the first time Porsche takes the wraps off new models online. Here’s the teaser:
Porsche calls the streaming platform as 9:11 Magazine. The first of the two models is likely to be the Targa. The teaser video gives us a glimpse of how the car looks. The contrasting red-coloured roof is one of the main highlights. As for the technical side of things, it will have the same setup (more-or-less) as the Carrera 4 models. That means a choice of power outputs between 380bhp and 444bhp, with all-wheel-drive. Porsche will unveil it during the first episode. And, as a bonus, Porsche Ambassadors Maria Sharapova (Tennis star) and Jörg Bergmeister (racing driver) will feature as well.
The second episode, on May 26, 2020, will allow Porsche fans to rekindle with the brand’s history. If that doesn’t interest you, this surely will – a limited-edition iteration of the new 911 will break cover. Porsche claims that it embodies “modern vehicle technology with design elements from the past”. Those who like what they see will have to wait until the last episode to get the details on that particular model. The air date is June 2, 2020.
So, where will the web series stream? Here.
