Good news, Porsche fans! Bookings for the Macan facelift have commenced on our shores. That means the official launch isn’t too far away. It made its world premiere in July last year, at an event in Shanghai, China. Back then, only the standard variant of the Macan broke cover. The S variant was unveiled in December 2018.
Porsche’s India website lists both variants of the Macan facelift. The company is likely to launch both variants at the same time. Compared to the pre-facelift model, the revamped Macan features restyled front and rear bumpers, a new range of 20- and 21-inch alloy wheels, new LED-powered headlamps with projector units and redesigned tailgate to accommodate an LED bar that links the taillamp enclosures.
There are changes inside the cabin as well. The dashboard layout has been slightly tweaked to boast an 11-inch, full-HD touchscreen infotainment system. Even the AC vents are new in shape and the central ones are now placed below the physical buttons of the large display. Other features inside the cabin include a Wi-Fi hotspot and Porsche’s Connect Plus module which brings live traffic information and voice control. Obviously, there are a bunch of optional extras to choose from. The list includes GT sports steering wheel, Traffic Jam Assist and heated windshield with an ioniser.
The standard Macan facelift will be powered by a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine which puts out 245PS of power and 370Nm of torque. The Macan S, on the other hand, will house a 3.0-litre V6 engine that has 354PS/480Nm on tap. Both power-plants will come coupled to a 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission which will feed the oomph to all four wheels. Porsche will supply mixed-profile tyres with the Macan facelift and while the Traction Management System will be part of the standard kit, features like ceramic brakes, torque vectoring, height-adjustable air suspension and Active Stability Management are optional extras.
Like all other Porsche models, the Macan facelift will be imported via the CBU (completely built unit) route. Once launched, it will renew its rivalry with the likes of the Jaguar F-Pace, Volvo XC60, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Land Rover Discovery and the Audi Q5.
