Less than ten days ago, Porsche unveiled the Cayenne Platinum Edition to the world. And that version is now available in India. As you’d expect, there are multiple variants of it. Here’s the price list:

  • Cayenne Platinum Edition – Rs 14,746,000
  • Cayenne E-Hybrid Platinum Edition – Rs 18,873,000
  • Cayenne Coupé Platinum Edition – Rs 14,773,000
  • Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé Platinum Edition – Rs 18,886,000

The Cayenne Platinum Edition variants follow the same mantra as the Panamera Platinum Edition derivatives, which landed on our shores last month. So, the special edition of the SUV and its Coupe versions feature bespoke design elements in a satin Platinum paint finish along with an extended list of standard features.

Design differences first. The inlays in the slats of the front air intakes, the Porsche lettering integrated inside the rear LED light strip, the model name at the back and the 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels are all finished in satin Platinum. Those design cues are complemented by black tailpipes, and side window surrounds. And as for the body colour options, the list includes solid White and Black shades, along with metallic paint finishes in Jet Black, Carrara White, Mahogany and Moonlight Blue. You can also order the Cayenne Platinum Edition in the “special” colour Crayon.

There’s more. The brushed aluminium door entry sills don the ‘Platinum Edition’ logo. Also, there are Crayon seat belts along with the textured aluminium interior package and silver-coloured elements. The Platinum Edition ropes in additional equipment, such as LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System, a panoramic roof, a Bose surround-sound system, ambient lighting and eight-way leather sports seats. The list also includes Porsche Crest on the front and rear headrests and an analogue clock on the dashboard. And, of course, one can tweak the look and feel of the Cayenne by opening the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur book of options.

It’s for all that you pay the premium. Mechanically, the Platinum Edition models are identical to their respective standard versions. So, the Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe come with a 2.9-litre, turbocharged V6 that pumps out 335bhp/450Nm. Their E-Hybrid versions also get the same powerplant, but with the added advantage of an electric motor. That takes the total output up to 456bhp/700Nm, enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 5 seconds and a top speed of 253kmph. In addition, all variants come with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an active all-wheel-drive system.

Porsche had a record-breaking 2021 in India. And the German carmaker aims to take things a notch higher this year.
