We’ve always maintained that if someone wants to buy a Cayenne, he/she will buy a Cayenne. In other words, that customer will not even consider buying anything else in the same segment. Now, however, with the arrival of the Porsche Cayenne Coupé, that kind of customer will surely face a dilemma. To our eyes, it looks even better than the standard Cayenne.

No points for guessing, the sportier variant shares its underpinnings with the standard Cayenne. However, it is 20mm shorter in height and 13mm longer in length. Although the overall width with mirrors unfolded is exactly the same, the Coupé’s shoulders are 18mm broader. Other design changes include the adaptive spoiler which extends by 135mm at speeds of up to 90kmph, and the number plate has been placed in the middle of the bumper.

Another noteworthy styling cue is the massive panoramic glass roof which spans 2.16 sq. m. Out of that, 0.92 sq. m. area is glazed and the integrated roller blind blocks hot and cold weather. If you want something sportier, the optional carbon roof will do that trick. The options list also includes 22-inch lightweight wheels, carbon and Alcantara accents in the cabin and seat centres finished in checked fabric. For the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, a sports exhaust system cuts the options list.

At the time of launch, the Porsche Cayenne Coupé will be available with two engine options. The standard Cayenne Coupé will feature a 3.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine which puts out 340PS/450Nm, whereas the Cayenne Turbo Coupé will get a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 550PS/770Nm. Both engines will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

Performance figures? With Porsche’s Sport Chrono Package in place, the 0-100kmph sprint times for the standard and the Turbo Coupé are 6 seconds and 3.9 seconds, respectively. The top speed figures, in the same order, are 243kmph and 286kmph.

The Porsche Cayenne Coupé is available to order in Europe. We sure hope that Porsche brings it to India as well. It has been designed particularly to take on the likes of the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé. Which one do you like the best? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. Now that is a good looking Porsche. If I had the money, I’d buy one!
