Let’s face it; we all respect the Nissan GT-R. But the Nissan GT-R50 By Italdesign is something to adore, admire and desire. It, in the prototype form, made its world premiere at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. And, of course, it wowed everyone around the world. Nissan has now announced that it is accepting orders for the extremely limited-run GT-R50 By Italdesign.

Of course, it is expensive. Prices will start, Start, START at 999,000 euros before taxes and optional extras. As far as production goes, no more than 50 specimens of it will ever exist. Is that what the suffix ‘50’ after the GT-R denotes? Yes. But there’s more to that number. This year, Italdesign is celebrating its 50th anniversary and next year, the GT-R mark will do the same.

Shall we get to some details? The Nissan GT-R50 By Italdesign is based on the GT-R NISMO, the fire-spitting racer. That means, the engine is the same – a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V6 which produces 720PS/780Nm. Compared to the racer, the limited-run model has 120PS more to play with. Do the same math with the standard Nissan GT-R, and you’ll notice that the anniversary special has 150PS/143Nm more oomph.

The prototype flaunted dual-tone paintwork – Liquid Kinetic Grey with Energetic Sigma Gold accents. However, customers will be able to choose whatever colour combinations they fancy for the production version of the car. Customisations will also include interior trim and package options. There’s a generous use of carbon fibre inside and outside of the car. And, to tame all the oomph, Nissan will fit an upgraded damping system and brakes on it.

Nissan says that deliveries will commence from next year and they will carry on to the year 2020. All in all, the Nissan GT-R50 By Italdesign is a rare and uber-expensive beast. And only those who are rich enough, brave enough and quick enough to get one will know what we are on about!
