Are you planning to purchase a Nissan or a Datsun car? Well, you should put your bookings in place before March 2021 comes to a close. The reason behind that suggestion is that all Nissan and Datsun models will cost more from next month. There’s no confirmed percentage out yet. But, as it usually is, the upward revision of prices will vary from model to model.
Here’s what Rakesh Srivastava, who is the managing director at Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd., said about this latest development:
There has been continuous escalation in auto component prices, and we have tried to absorb this escalation over the last few months. We are now constrained to increase our prices across all Nissan & Datsun models, the increase varies from variant to variant, while still offering the best value proposition to its discerning Indian customers.
Presently, Nissan has three models on sale in India – Kicks, Magnite and GT-R. Under Datsun’s umbrella are three products as well – Redi-Go, Go and Go+.
Earlier this year, Nissan hiked prices of all turbocharged variants of the Magnite by Rs 30,000. That made it slightly dearer than its step-sibling – the Renault Kiger. As for the Kicks, it currently costs between Rs 9.5 lakh and Rs 14.65 lakh. Courtesy of a 1.3-litre, turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 154bhp/254Nm, the Kicks bags the title of being the most powerful compact SUV in the country. The same powerplant is also part of Renault Duster’s portfolio.
Nissan is currently working hard to bring down the waiting period on the Magnite. In certain cities, the wait stretches up to several months. The subcompact SUV has a hugely attractive price list. Thanks to that, it competes with models like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV300. It also takes a swing at premium hatchbacks such as Tata Altroz Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
