Saar: The German carmaker has revealed a bunch of sketches but only for the cabin.
Later this year, Mercedes-Benz will take the wraps off the all-new GLE SUV. That, inevitably, will be joined by its Coupe iteration, but at a later stage. So how will Mercedes-Benz entice prospects until the D-day? By releasing some teaser images. And the carmaker decided to release some sketches of the cabin. Looks like rough work to us but Mercedes-Benz would probably say that it is work of art. Sure!
So, what do we notice? The first thing that will catch everyone’s eye is that all the sketches are in finished in two-tone. That’s stating the obvious, isn’t it?! Anyway, the next prominent aspect that catches the eye is a big slab which stretches from behind the steering wheel all the way to the centre of the dashboard. You know what that is, don’t you! That, ladies and gentlemen, is a confirmation that the next-gen Mercedes-Benz GLE will have the MBUX twin-screen setup. Since it is the GLE and not the GLA, the size of the twin-screens is expected to be over the 12-inch mark, rather than the puny 10-inch size that does duty in the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Needless to say, the display behind the steering wheel will act as a digital instrument cluster with various display settings. And the one in the centre of the dashboard replaces Mercedes’ COMMAND infotainment system.
Other noteworthy design cues include a clean dashboard layout, which houses trapezoidal AC vents and the centre console seems to have prominent grab handles protruding outwards to give the SUV some in-your-face character.
Several publications have shared various spy shots of the upcoming GLE. Some have even managed to get a sneak-peak on the interiors. Based on those, the next-gen Mercedes-Benz GLE will also get a new steering wheel, much like we’ve seen on the expensive models from the company. Moreover, the GLE is expected to bigger yet lighter than the outgoing model, thanks to an all-new platform. More confirmed details will surface as the world premiere date comes closer.
As far as its India launch is concerned, it won’t happen before the next year. The new Mercedes-Benz GLE will renew its rivalry with the BMW X5, Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90.
