Saar: The front grille design echoes to Audi’s new design language which debuted with the Q8.
Guys, another new Audi is on its way to break cover. And that will happen on July 25, 2018. To gain our attention and to get us car nutters intrigued, Audi has dropped a teaser video on its next new model. The product? The second-generation Audi Q3. Here, treat yourself with the video.
As you’d expect, not much has been revealed in the 21-second video. But a few stills do give away the fact that the second-gen Q3 will flaunt Audi’s new design lingo which debuted with the Q8 last month. At the front, the three-dimensional grille with vertical slats will be flanked by new headlamps with three-tier LED DRLs and a dual-barrel layout. The video also gives us a glimpse of the new alloy wheels, a large air inlet with what appears to be a parking sensor on top and an Audi logo with changing background lights.
The new Audi Q3 will be underpinned by Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, which will result in weight saving. That’s apart from the fact that the new Q3, which is no longer the entry-level Q model (Audi Q2 takes that honour), will be bigger in size than its predecessor. Although Audi hasn’t revealed much about the cabin, apart from that logo with changing background light, the second-gen Q3 is expected to get Audi’s Virtual Cockpit and an infotainment system embedded within the dashboard.
Under the hood, the new Audi Q3 is expected to get a 1.5-litre TSI (turbo-petrol) and a 2.0-litre TDI (turbo-diesel). At a later stage, Audi is also likely to inject a plug-in hybrid in the options list. Since the new Audi Q3 will be lighter on its feet, it will be more fuel-efficient than before. It is expected to go on sale in Europe before the end of this year. It will only come to India as a 2019 model and when it does, it will take the fight to the recently launched Volvo XC40, BMW X1, Mini Countryman and the Mercedes-Benz GLA.
