MG Motor India is all set to double its product portfolio with the ZS EV. The zero-emissions SUV will launch sometime next month while bookings for it opened a couple of days ago. When the company unveiled the India-spec ZS EV, it gave us some dope on the vehicle’s features and all on its performance. Now, however, we’ve got more details on the trim levels and the kind of gizmos they will carry.

The MG ZS EV will be available in two trim levels – Excite and Exclusive. The former will pack features like 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic projector headlamps, LED DRLs, push-button start/stop, cruise control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a four-speaker music system. Choosing the range-topper will rope in gizmos such as i-Smart EV 2.0 (60+ connected-car features), electrically-foldable and heated ORVMs, leather seats, dual-pane panoramic sky roof, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers and a PM 2.5 filter. Weirdly, the Exclusive trim will miss out on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. As per the carmaker, support for those will come in at a later stage.

The SUV will pack many safety features as standard. That list includes six airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, electric parking brake, tyre-pressure monitoring system and disc brakes on all wheels. If all that isn’t enough for you, stuff like rear parking sensors, rear fog lamp, three-point seatbelt for all passengers, ISOFIX anchorages for child booster seats and a rear-view camera are also part of the same list. No matter which derivative you opt for, the car will come with five years/unlimited km warranty, five years of roadside assistance and five labour free services.

It is safe to say that as it did with the Hector, MG Motor India has made the ZS EV a feature-rich affair. Likely to cost between Rs 22-23 lakh, the EV will become a direct rival to the Hyundai Kona Electric. Sure, the MG cannot compete with the South Korean EV in terms of claimed range (340km Vs 452). But, the Chinese-made British model does pack a lot more creature comforts. All-in-all, it will be an exciting battle.
