Saar: They are – the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe ‘OrangeArt’ and the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 ‘RedArt’.

Mercedes-Benz India continues to surprise us with its rampant approach towards refreshing its Indian portfolio. Today, the three-pointed star from Germany has introduced two special editions of the GLE and the SLC models. They are called the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe ‘OrangeArt’ and the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 ‘RedArt’. While the former is priced at Rs 1.02 crore onwards, the latter wears a minimum price tag of Rs 87.48 lakh (both prices ex-showroom India).

So, what’s so special about these variants? Well, to kick start, their availability will be limited to a total of 25 units. That means, if you do get a chance to purchase any one of these, you will stand out from the rest of the GLE and SLC family. Another hint for why these two cars are special comes from the name itself – OrangeArt and RedArt.  Let’s look at them individually and understand what gives them these ‘colourful’ names.

Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe ‘OrangeArt’

Available in three paint finishes, Polar white, Obsidian black and Selenite grey, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe ‘OrangeArt’ comes with AMG treatment for the exterior and interior. That is backed by 21-inch AMG-spec 5-twin-spoke lightweight alloy wheels which are finished in an exclusive high-gloss black paint with orange rim flange. There are also orange accents on the front apron and Full LED headlamps with black LED ring and intelligent light system light the way.

Inside the cabin, the sports seats are draped in black nappa leather/DINAMICA microfibre with orange piping and contrasting topstitching in grey. The orangeness continues on the piping of the floor mats. Additionally, the door centre panels and finished in black DINAMICA microfibre and contrasting topstitching in grey.

Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster Revealed

Under the bonnet is 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine that puts out 390PS/520Nm of torque. Coupled to a 9-speed automatic transmission, which sends the power to the road via the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, the coupe-shaped SUV can crack the 0-100kmph sprint in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 250kmph (electronically limited).

Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 ‘RedArt’

Here, Orange has been replaced by Red and you probably know what to expect. No? Okay. Let’s get on with it. The Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 ‘RedArt’ is available in Polar white or, for an additional fee, in an exclusive paint finish called as Designo selenite grey magno. No matter which colour you choose, there are red highlights on the front and rear apron of the car. Moreover, there are red flics in the AMG-spec bumper, red fins on the wings and red brake callipers with AMG branding. Accompanying the exuberant redness are 18-inch, AMG-spec, 10-spoke, lightweight alloy wheels finished in high-gloss black and rim flange painted in red.

Inside the cabin, the exclusive seat design draped in black leather, feature silver pearl nappa leather inserts. Additionally, there’s red contrasting topstitching on the upholstery and head restraints in carbon-fibre effect embossed leather with embroidered Edition logo.

Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4MATIC+ Launched At Rs 1.5 Crore

Powering the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 ‘RedArt’ is the same engine from the GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe. While the torque figure remains identical, the power figure is slightly deflated at 367PS. Even so, thanks to a 9-speed automatic transmission and just front-wheel-drive, this droptop can complete the naught to 100kmph run in 4.7 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.

Needless to say, Mercedes-Benz will supply a host of optional extras for both the cars. Our take? They will be extremely rare to spot once the limited-run stint meets its fate. And for that reason alone, we’d definitely consider them in our shortlists.
