Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe 4MATIC+ Launching On June 18
Saar: The performance-oriented coupe is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine producing 612PS/900Nm.
Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch another product that will fall in its AMG portfolio. It will be the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe 4MATIC+ and it will go on sale in India on June 18, 2018. It was updated in the international markets last year along with its elder sibling, the S 65 Coupe which is powered by a 6.0-litre V12.
Anyway, let’s not get disappointed that we are getting the lesser of the two variants. The S 63 Coupe 4MATIC+ is no slouch by any means. In fact, it is powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that does duty in the E 63 S 4MATIC+, which was launched in May this year. While the power, at 612PS, remains identical, the S 63 Coupe has 50Nm more torque on tap, taking the grand total up to 900Nm.
Mercedes-Benz Launches Limited-Run GLE Coupe And SLC Variants
The 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system ensures efficient power delivery and that is backed by a 9-speed AMG-spec automatic transmission. The setup is enough to take the performance-oriented coupe to complete the zero to 100kmph sprint in 3.5 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. The latter can be upped to 300kmph with the optional AMG Driver’s package. It isn’t just about raw power, the S 63 Coupe is clever too. The engine comes with cylinder deactivation system which is purely there to improve fuel efficiency.
As you’d expect from a product falling in the S-Class range, it comes loaded with gadgets. The list includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an equally big touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters, powered sports seats with memory function and heating functionality for the driver and the front passenger, 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels and multiple driving modes.
Needless to say, Mercedes-Benz India will bring the S 63 Coupe 4MATIC+ via the CBU (completely built unit) route. That means a hefty price tag, which we believed will be around the Rs 2.5 crore mark. Once launched, it will take on the Bentley Continental GT and the Porsche Panamera Turbo Executive.
