Maruti Suzuki Recalls Over 1.3 Lakh Cars
Do you own a WagonR or a Baleno? If yes, then you probably need to pay serious attention. Maruti Suzuki has triggered a voluntary recall for a total of 1,34,885 vehicles, which comprises of 56,663 units of the WagonR and 78,222 specimens of the Baleno. The Indo-Japanese brand wants to inspect for a possible fault with the fuel pump. If required, Maruti Suzuki will replace the defective part with a new functioning one free of cost.
So, which lot is part of the recall? For WagonR, variants equipped with the 1.0-litre engine and manufactured between November 15, 2018, and October 15, 2019. As for the Baleno, petrol derivatives produced between January 8, 2019, and November 4, 2019. If your vehicle falls in either of the two categories and passes both filters, you must get in touch with the nearest authorised dealership.
If for some reason you’re not sure, you can enter the vehicle’s chassis number on Maruti Suzuki’s microsite to get a confirmation. For the record, the chassis number starts with MA3 or MBH, followed by a 14-character alpha-numeric code. Or, if you can’t be bothered, you can wait for Maruti Suzuki to get in touch with you regarding the recall.
Maruti Suzuki hasn’t confirmed how long will the inspection and replacement procedure will take. The best way to get the timeline under your control is by booking an appointment with the authorised dealer before heading out. For WagonR, you must contact the nearest Maruti Suzuki Arena dealership. And for Baleno, it’ll be the Nexa facility.
Both models in question were part of voluntary recalls last year as well. Maruti Suzuki recalled over 40,000 units of the WagonR in August 2019, to check for a possible fuel hose fouling. In February 2019, the company recalled more than 3,750 units of the Baleno to inspect and update the modified software for ABS actuator.
