There is no running away from the fact that the automotive industry is going through its biggest transformation phase ever since the concept of the car itself was originally invented in the late 19th century. What are we on about? The shift from non-renewable fossil fuels powering our transportation system to creating a sustainable ecosystem without the toxic side-effects of harmful emissions. What we need is not just one but several feasible ideas which can make our journey of this transformation as smooth as possible.

But there is something that’s even more important than that. What? A platform which not just encourages brilliant brains to stitch together such ideas but also helps them make the fruitful journey of converting concepts on paper into reality. That’s where Maruti Suzuki’s MAIL (Mobility & Automobile Innovation Lab) initiative comes in. It is been created to invite start-ups from all over India to share and showcase their innovative ideas which have the potential to shape the future of mobility.

Maruti Suzuki has partnered with GHV Accelerator, which is an Indo-Japanese early-stage seed fund for proprietary accelerator program and industry co-creation program, to create this platform for entrepreneurs. If you are part of such a start-up and seek a push and mentorship from the pandits in their respective fields, you can visit Maruti Suzuki’s dedicated website for MAIL and follow the instructions on how to go about it.

The company is looking for proposals in several promising fields such as connected cars, shared mobility, electric vehicles and autonomous cars. If the idea clicks well with India’s largest carmaker, it might pay the way for the start-up to do a Proof of Concept (POC) with direct collaborative support. What else? Oh, yes! All the best!
