After making a global debut earlier this month, the Lamborghini Huracan Evo Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) arrives in India, sporting an eye-popping price tag of Rs 3.22 crore. And that number doesn’t include taxes! The latest iteration of the baby Lambo is quite possibly the second-last derivative. Expect an RWD Spyder version soon. Compared to the standard Huracan Evo coupe, which comes with an all-wheel-drive system, the new variant costs about Rs 88 lakh less.
Powering the two-wheel-drive Huracan Evo is the same 5.2-litre, naturally-aspirated V10 engine that does duty in the rest of the range. However, it isn’t as powerful. For the Huracan’s RWD derivative, Lamborghini has pegged the power/torque figures at 602bhp/560Nm, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit handles transmission duties. That’s 28bhp/40Nm less than the AWD Huracan Evo. Because of that deficit, the Huracan Evo RWD takes 3.3 seconds (0.4 seconds slower) and 9.3 seconds (0.3 seconds slower) to reach 100kmph and 200kmph from a standstill, respectively. Lamborghini claims that the top speed is 325kmph, which is predictably lower as well.
Those performance figures are by no means disappointing. And to ensure that it has a distinct personality, Lamborghini has garnished the baby bull with a redesigned front and rear fascias and a mean-looking diffuser. There’s also something called Performance Traction Control System. Lamborghini has linked it with the various driving modes so that the driver can choose how much fun he/she wants. In Strada mode, for example, the slippage is minimal whereas the Sport mode maximises the fun (gets the ass out quite quickly!).
As far as the list of gadgets is concerned, it is the same as the rest of the range. That includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen, portrait-style control centre, a flat-bottom steering wheel and paddle-shifters. Lamborghini also gives access to its customisation section where customers can get virtually endless permutations and combinations to spec their supercar up. So, which one would you choose? This, the Aston Martin Vantage or the Porsche 911?
