Land Rover Discovery Sport And Range Rover Evoque Get Two Ingenium Petrol Variants Each
Saar: The petrol engine in question is the same 2.0-litre Ingenium unit that powers the Range Rover Evoque Convertible.
Jaguar Land Rover has expanded the variant list for two of its locally assembled models – the Range Rover Evoque and the Land Rover Discovery Sport. That expansion is courtesy of the 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine that also powers the Range Rover Evoque Convertible. While the Range Rover Evoque gets the same engine as an option in the SE and HSE Dynamic trims, the Land Rover Discovery Sport gets it in the SE and HSE trims. Here’s how they are priced:
Price List Of Newly Launched Ingenium Petrol Variants (ex-showroom India)
Model - Variant | Price |
---|---|
Land Rover Discovery Sport - SE | Rs 49.20 Lakh |
Land Rover Discovery Sport - HSE | Rs 52.70 Lakh |
Range Rover Evoque - SE | Rs 51.06 Lakh |
Range Rover Evoque - HSE Dynamic | Rs 60.73 Lakh |
The 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 240PS of power and 340Nm of torque, and it comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which routes the power to the road via a four-wheel-drive system. For all the four variants mentioned in the above table, the powertrain setup is identical. The only other Land Rover model that gets the same engine is the Range Rover Velar. In that, the same engine is available in two states of tune in the Range Rover Velar – 250PS/365Nm and 300PS/400Nm.
Jaguar Land Rover Reveals Updates For 2019 F-Pace And Range Rover Velar
The usage of this engine, however, is not limited to just Land Rover models. It is also available in the Jaguar XE and the XF sedans. In the former, the Pure and Prestige variants get 200PS/320Nm on tap. However, in the range-topping Portfolio variant, the XE gets the 250PS/365Nm state of tune. With the XF, this engine is only offered in the Prestige and Portfolio variants, in both the aforementioned states of tune. Unlike the above-mentioned Land Rover products, which have four-wheel-drive, the Jaguar sedans are only rear wheel drive.
In the Rs 50 – 60 lakh price bracket, there are only a handful of petrol-powered SUVs currently available in India. Price-wise, both the newly launched Land Rover products will compete with the Mercedes-GLC 300 and the Lexus NX. Other premium SUVs such as the Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, and the BMW X3 are currently available with diesel-fed powerplants only.
