Jeep Renegade Facelift Shyly Unveiled
Saar: The company released a grand total of three images, one of which was just for the taillamp enclosure.
Behold! The mildly refreshed Jeep Renegade has broken cover. But it is done that rather shyly. The American SUV-maker has released a total of three images and a whole paragraph to support the unveiling of its smallest high-rider. Mind you, out of the three images one was just for the taillamp enclosure and that was released a few days ago. In flesh, the Jeep Renegade facelift was showcased at the Torino Motor Show, in Italy.
Jeep didn’t bother to release any images for the interior. Hence we can’t say if there are any changes in the cabin or not. We will only be able to deliver on that front once Jeep decides to open-up, quite literally! Anyway, let’s focus on what we can tell you about the Renegade’s mid-life refresh. At the front, the round headlamps have gone high-tech, with circular LED lamps surrounding a rectangular projector bezel. The iconic seven-slat grille has received styling updates too and so have the front bumper. Both the parking lights and fog lamps have grown in size and the orange side indicator housing has been replaced by a transparent one. What’s more, the caps for outer rear view mirrors have changed to accommodate a turn indicator. At the rear, there are a set of new taillamp enclosures and that’s about it.
As far as engines go, Jeep did mention that the Renegade facelift will get new ones. But it didn’t bother to release any information about it. That said, the European version is expected to get two engine options – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine with 120PS on tap and a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder mill in two states of tune, 150PS and 180PS.
The Jeep Renegade is expected to launch in India too and when it does, it is likely to borrow the engine-transmission combos from its elder sibling, the Compass. That said, in the Renegade, both engines will not be as powerful as the ones in the Compass. Apart from the Renegade, Jeep is readying two more SUV for the Indian market, one of which will sit in the sub-4 metre category.
