Saar: Whether it will come to India or not, remains unknown. Even if it doesn’t as it is, we’d really like their 300PS powerplants to make it to our shores.
Jaguar has launched ‘300 Sport’ editions for its XE and XF sedans in the UK. Whether or not will these will make it to our shores remains unknown, but we would surely like their engines to come to India and do what they do best in any other Jaguar. More on the engine front later. First, let’s see how the ‘300 Sport’ is different to other variants, such as Prestige, Portfolio, etc.
At the front, the ‘300 Sport’ badge smugly rests in the bottom right corner of the grille. The same branding is found on the brake callipers and the tailgate. Apart from that, dark satin grey finishes have been given to the ORVMs, rear spoiler and the front grille surround. As standard, both cars come with 19-inch alloys but if you pay extra, Jaguar will fit a set of 20-inch alloy wheels too. Both cars, for the ‘300 Sport’ trim, can be had in three exterior body paints – Yulong White, Indus Silver and Santorini Black. However, the XE is also available in Caldera Red.

Inside the cabin, the sporty aura continues with yellow contrast stitching on the steering wheel, seats, door trim and the armrest. ‘300 Sport’ branding continues on the treadplates, floor mats, steering wheel and on the headrests. On the gadgets front, Jaguar has thrown in its Touch Pro 10-inch infotainment system as standard for both the models. Other changes include chrome side window surround, chrome seat switches for all electric seats, shiny metal pedals and frameless, auto-dimming IRVM.
On to the engines then. The XE 300 Sport is powered by the same 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine that this also available in India. But, and this is a huge BUT (notice just the one T!), the engine is tuned to produce 300PS/400Nm. The result is 0-100kmph in just 5.7 seconds. This engine is available with other trims of the XE too but not in India. The story is similar with the XF. The XF 300 Sport is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which produces 300PS/700Nm. This engine is available in India though but only in the XJ.
Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd had a healthy last fiscal. It is now planning to cash in on the growth path with 10 new models planned in the current fiscal. We sure hope that even if JLR decides against to launching the ‘300 Sport’ trims of the XE and XF in India, it starts offering those engines in the said cars.
