Saar: Bookings are now open for the mad two-seater sports car, which is available in coupe and convertible forms.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has launched the fastest, most daunting version of its two-seater sports car yet. It is called the F-Type SVR and prices start at a whopping Rs 2.65 crore (ex-showroom). The acronym SVR is attached to a Jaguar or Land Rover model only when it comes from Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) finishing school. To put things in perspective, SVO is to Jaguar Land Rover as AMG is to Mercedes-Benz. JLR has begun accepting bookings for the F-Type SVR, which will come to India only as a direct import.
The main talking point of about the F-Type SVR is the engine. It houses a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine that puts out 575PS of power and 700Nm of torque. Thanks to an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system, the F-Type can sprint from nought to 100kmph in just 3.7 seconds. In its coupe form, Jaguar claims that the F-Type SVR can hit a top speed of 322kmph. The drop-top version’s top speed, on the other hand, is 314kmph.
Jaguar Land Rover Reveals Updates For 2019 F-Pace And Range Rover Velar
Apart from equipping the F-Type with the 5.0-litre power plant that also does duty in the Range Rover Autobiography, Jaguar has also been busy at making the two-seater light. Nearly 40kg have been lost by the use of magnesium construction of the seats, titanium and Inconel exhaust system and forged 20-inch alloy wheels. The F-Type SVR also comes with bespoke elements such as a carbon fibre rear spoiler, sporty front and rear bumpers, SVR performance seats and steering wheel, lozenge quilted leather upholstery and dark brushed aluminium centre console with SVR branding. It also comes with Pirelli P-Zero tyres which are 10mm wider than the standard car.
In India, the Jaguar F-Type SVR goes up against the Porsche 911 Turbo S, Nissan GT-R, Mercedes-AMG GT and the Audi R8 V10 Plus. Soon, the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage will join the contest.
