Saar: It is equipped with the same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 that does duty in the F-Type SVR sports car and boy do we love those mad figures!
Jaguar’s F-Pace has always had one permanent ace up its sleeve – good looks. Well, the British marque has now given their biggest SUV the power to match its killer looks. The engineers didn’t want to mess about and have equipped the F-Pace with a 5.0-litre supercharged V8, that puts out 550PS of power and 680Nm of torque. Those figures aren’t the highest though. The same engine puts out 575PS/700Nm in the F-Type SVR and 600PS/700Nm in the limited-run XE SV Project 8. That said, the F-Pace SVR has enough grunt to complete the to 100kmph from a standstill in just 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 283kmph. That’s impressive, to say the least.
Of course, the insane speed isn’t just down to the herculean power from under the bonnet. It is also down to the tweaked aerodynamics. The front air intakes, for instance, are larger than the standard car. The side air vents, which as we know look extremely cool on any car, lower the air pressure in the wheel arches, resulting in reduced lift, better cooling and enhanced high-speed stability. The flared wheel arches and lower body moulding around the car give it a much more muscular stance. At the rear, the quad-tailpipes hide an active exhaust system and the roof-mounted spoiler further accentuates its sporty outlook.
Weight saving is another criterion that carmakers look upon when creating a go-fast version of any car. The Jaguar F-Pace SVR is not an exception. The standard 21 inchers or the optional 22 inchers are wider at the rear than in the front. Compared to the standard F-Pace, the 22-inch alloy wheels are 2.4kg and 1.7kg lighter on the front and the rear respectively. Then there are the breaks. Although they are bigger in the F-Pace SVR but have been cleverly engineered to save weight without compromising on the performance. To top it all, the SVR’s exhaust system is 6.6kg lighter than the standard car and at the same time complements the ferocious powerplant.
With all that hidden underneath the gorgeous exterior, the F-Pace SVR is just as luxurious and practical as before. The dashboard is dominated by Jaguar’s Touch Pro infotainment screen, which stretches 10-inch diagonally, and a 12.3-inch screen takes place as the instrument cluster. There’s 4G connectivity onboard, using which up to 8 devices can connect to the internet simultaneously. Jaguar has also equipped the SUV with an all-wheel-drive system to deliver that sense of security on the move.
If you are interested in one of these, fill out a form online or contact a Jaguar dealer. The F-Pace is available on sale in India but whether the dealers will entertain queries for the SVR variant is unknown. More will be revealed once the variant in question goes on sale later this year. Jaguar should bring it to India too as it will be a killer match to the Porsche Macan Turbo and the AMG-badged Mercedes SUVs.
