Want the best possible deal on a Hyundai model? You better get cracking before the calendar reads August 1, 2019. That’s because the South Korean carmaker will be increasing the prices of all its models, except for the Venue and the Kona Electric, by up to Rs 9,200 from the said date. Hyundai claims that the decision for an upward revision in prices is due to the increased input costs and changes made to the models to make them compliant with the new safety regulations.

The reason why the prices of Venue and Kona Electric won’t be affected is that their price list was devised from the start to include the hike. The Venue, which enabled Hyundai to enter the hotly contested sub-4 metre SUV segment, was launched in May this year. In just over a month, it bagged more than 33,000 bookings. The Kona Electric, on the other hand, was introduced earlier this month. The latter not only became Hyundai’s first-ever, all-electric model in India but also the only one in the country to boast a range of more than 450km on a single charge.

Hyundai Motor India’s portfolio currently starts with the Santro, which received some revisions in its line-up earlier this month. Next in line is the Grand i10, which will enter its next-generation later this year. Other models that Hyundai retails in India include the Verna, Elite i20, Creta, Elantra and Tucson.

Like most major players in the country, Hyundai will soon start rolling out BSVI-compliant (Bharat Stage VI) models. Even though the upgraded models will be noticeably expensive than what they are now, especially the diesel ones, Hyundai will not be shying away from selling diesel-fed models beyond March 31, 2020. For the uninitiated, all carmakers in India will only be to retail only BSVI-compliant models from April 1, 2020.
