Those who put practicality above everything else in their personal luxury transportation should definitely consider this – the refreshed 6 Series Gran Turismo. BMW India has devised three variants, two diesel – 620d Luxury Line and 630d M Sport – and one petrol – 630i M Sport. Their prices are Rs 68.9 lakh, Rs 77.9 lakh and Rs 67.9 lakh, respectively.
The mid-life update of the 6 Series Gran Turismo first broke cover in May last year. Compared to the pre-facelift model, the refreshed one features a revised kidney grille, designed front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels and slimmer headlights, which feature L-shaped DRLs. Indoors, it packs more features, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Powering the 630i is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 255bhp/400Nm. That’s enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 250kmph. The 620d makes do with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel mill that generates 188bhp/400Nm. BMW claims a 0-100kmph time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 220kmph. Get the 630d, and the 6 GT will pack a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder motor with 261bhp/620Nm. With that, the car can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 6.1 seconds and top out at 250kmph. All those engines come coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Features? As standard, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo packs stuff like adaptive two-axle air suspension, automatic tailgate operation, two 10.2-inch displays for rear passengers, a wireless mobile charger, four-zone automatic climate control and the digital instrument cluster mentioned above. The car also offers BMW LaserLight tech, launch control, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, soft-close function for side doors and 360-degree surround-view cameras.
There’s an early-bird offer too. Limited online bookings made on or before April 30, 2021, will get complimentary BMW accessories and lifestyle collection products worth Rs 1.5 lakh. The freebies include headphones for rear-seat entertainment, Mont-Blanc for BMW and BMW Display Key.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is a direct rival for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB (Long Wheelbase). Which out of the two would you choose?
