Honda Cars India To Hike Prices From Next Month
Saar: The hiked prices, which will vary between Rs 10,000 and Rs 35,000, will be effective from August 1, 2018.
Honda Cars India Ltd. has had a good couple of months, riding on the back of its newly launched second-generation Amaze sedan. In May and June this year, the Indian arm of the Japanese carmaker grew by 41 and 37.5 per cent respectively. But it seems that the company has been cutting profits on its products as it has now announced that from August 1, 2018, it will revise the price list of all its products on sale in India. That revision will see a hike in prices ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 35,000, depending on the model and its variant.
In a press release, Rajesh Goel, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Honda Cars India Ltd., said:
“Due to the increasing pressure on input costs, the impact of customs duty hike over past few months and higher freight rates, we are forced to consider increasing the prices of our cars.”
It was on May 16, 2018, when Honda launched the new Amaze in India at an introductory price of Rs 5.6 lakh (ex-showroom). It will also be included in the revision of prices. Other models that Honda currently sells in India include the Brio, City, WR-V, Jazz, BR-V, CR-V and the Accord Hybrid.

Later in the year, Honda will be launching two new models in India. One of them will the all-new CR-V which, for the first time ever, will also be sold with a diesel engine under the hood. The other car will be the Civic sedan, which will take on the likes of the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and the Hyundai Elantra. The CR-V, on the other hand, will be positioned against the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500.
Reports suggest that before either of those models go on sale, Honda will be launching the refreshed Honda Jazz. This is contrary to what was reported by us in the month of April 2018.
