To support Govt. of India’s vehicle scrapping policy, Renault India has partnered with Cero Recycling – a joint venture between Mahindra Intertrade Ltd. and MSTC (a Government of India enterprise). It is India’s first organised scrap vehicle recycling company. The RELIVE program is a step towards offering potential customers an end-to-end solution for scrapping their old vehicles and avail all the possible benefits while purchasing a new one.

Renault says that customers who bring their old/end of life vehicles of any brand to an authorised dealership will get a just scrap valuation quote post the required evaluation. That, along with an additional guaranteed scrap benefit over and above the pertaining offers on cars, will be offered. Put all that together, and the new car buying deal could become a whole lot sweeter.

What about the tedious documentation process? Renault and Cero Recycling will take care of that. It will include everything from vehicle evaluation to deregistering the old/end of life vehicle at the Regional Transport Office (RTO). Obviously, the official certificate of deposit/scrapping of their vehicle will be handed over to customers. Got an old two-wheeler for scrapping? No worries. Take that to a Renault dealer, and it will offer a reduced rate of interest – 7.99 per cent – from Renault Finance for a new Renault. The RELIVE program is currently live in six cities, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Bengaluru. As you’d expect, that list will expand in times to come.

Here’s what Venkatram Mamillapalle, who is the CEO & MD at Renault India, said about the RELIVE program in an official release:

The scrappage policy is a very important step towards the right direction in making India a hub of manufacturing and elevate the Indian auto industry a notch up in terms of better technology adoption, safer and cleaner vehicles. The scrappage policy will help in significantly reducing the pollution levels and streamlining the unorganised & fragmented recycle market in the country.

Cero already has dismantling centres at Greater Noida, Pune and Chennai, and collection centres at Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh. The company aims to be present in 25 cities within the next 8-10 months.

A car nutter by heart. A hopeless engineer by education. Gunning for one goal - simplify cars.
