In the first quarter of this year, Land Rover launched two models in India – the all-new Evoque and the Discovery Sport facelift. For both, the company revealed prices for diesel-fed variants but not for the petrol-powered ones. That said, it had commenced accepting bookings for the latter as well. Now, we have the complete price list for the duo. Not only has Land Rover revealed how much the petrol derivatives cost but also bumped up the prices for diesel variants. Here’s how the prices look like:

One of the possible reasons for the hike in prices could be Land Rover counterbalancing the rise of input costs. Else, the more plausible explanation comes from the fact that the prices revealed months ago were introductory. The petrol-fed variants, on the other hand, carry competitive prices. Land Rover confirms that the deliveries of petrol derivatives have commenced.

Both models get the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which puts out 245bhp/365Nm. Land Rover has also thrown in a 48-volt mild-hybrid system which aids in acceleration and fuel economy. The powerplant comes coupled to a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.  Performance figures? With the petrol mill, the Evoque can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 7.5 seconds and top out at 230kmph. On the other hand, the Discovery Sport (in the seven-seater form) can complete the 0-100kmph sprint in 7.8 seconds and reach 224kmph at full stretch.

Like the powertrain, both Land Rovers here also share most of the creature comforts. The list includes cruise control, Terrain Response 2 system, a fixed panoramic glass roof with powered blind, auto headlamps and wipers and a powered tailgate. If all that isn’t rich enough for you, they also pack features such as power-adjustable front seats, 360-degree parking aid, two-zone climate control and Touch Pro infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The more expensive R-Dynamic SE versions rope in additional features such as Touch Pro Duo, memory function for ORVMs, auto high beam assist and ClearSight rear-view mirror.

Since both the Evoque and Discovery Sport fall in the same sort of price bracket, they rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC60 and the BMW X3. Soon, the updated Audi Q5 will join the party as well. Out of the lot, which one would be your choice?
