The Indian arm of the American carmaker Ford has issued a recall for the previous-gen Endeavour SUV. A total of 22,690 units, manufactured between February 2004 and September 2014 at Ford India’s Chennai facility, fall under this voluntary service campaign. The company wants to inspect for faults in the front airbag inflators.

Apart from the Endeavour, Ford India is also recalling units the Freestyle, new-gen Figo and Aspire. The battery monitoring system will be inspected for the aforementioned models. Although the carmaker hasn’t given a total count of units for the trio, it did mention that those manufactured between September 2017 and April 2019 will be under the scanner. All three models are built on the same platform and share most of the underpinnings. And, they are manufactured at Ford India’s Sanand facility in Gujarat.

To keep the process of inspection as smooth as possible, Ford dealerships have started reaching out to owners of models which fall in either of the service campaigns. And of course, the owners can reach out to the nearest authorised dealer to check whether their car is part of the recall or not. The only piece of information that owners need to provide the dealer with is the vehicle identification number (VIN).

Ford India has had quite a busy 2019 already. The action started with the launch of the Aspire CNG, followed by the introduction of the refreshed Endeavour. The month of March saw the launch of the Figo facelift, which received a price revision the following month. In the month of May, we learnt that Ford India won’t be shying away from diesel-fed models post the mandatory BSVI (Bharat Stage VI) implementation nationwide.

Soon afterwards, the limited-edition Ford Aspire Blu was launched. And last month, the EcoSport received some revision in the package as well as Thunder Edition version.
