Saar: It will only come to life if the makers can find enough funding to put it into production.

We normally don’t cover such stories but the Nobe 100 EV (electric vehicle) just melted our heart. We just couldn’t ignore it. Designed in Estonia by Nobe founder and CEO Roman Muljar, the Nobe 100 defines simplicity. And with that three-wheel configuration and those retro looks, it is bound to win hearts all over the world.

Speaking of which, the Nobe 100 will only be built if the company can accumulate enough funding to put it into production. To kickstart the operations, Nobe is looking at an initial investment of around 1.2 million USD, which at today’s currency conversion rate comes out to be just over Rs 8 crore.

Underneath the pretty little exterior hides a completely zero-emissions electric powertrain. Although the official press release didn’t have the performance figures, however, it is rated to go on for 220km between charging points and can reach a top speed of 110kmph. To put all the power down on the road effectively, it has all-wheel-drive. The Nobe 100 can juice-up its battery pack in about two hours and if you don’t have the time, there’s an extra battery on offer.

What’s more, the Nobe 100 is the first-ever or could be the first-ever, Cabrio EV to go on sale. It comes with a manually removable hard-top and the EV is environment-friendly with its 100 per cent reusable parts. The Nobe 100 is also upgradable to make it last longer. Inside, the minimalistic design approach continues. The retro steering wheel is accompanied by two equally-retro analogue dials. The grouping of subtle chrome detailing, a tiny dashboard lockable lid, old-school wind-down windows and the quilted seat covers reminds us of simpler times.

It is practical too. There are two rows of seats and a luggage compartment at the rear. Sure, there’s just enough space for three passengers at max and maybe just for their duffle bags too. Another downer could be in its layout. Three-wheeled cars, one at the front or at the rear, have never been the best at handling bends without breaking a sweat. But, we believe that’s a small price to pay for something that looks so adorable.
