Saar: Only 40 units will ever be made and each one will cost 5 million euros.
Bugatti is one name that is synonymous with pushing the laws of physics to their absolute limits. After it was bought by the Volkswagen Group in the late ‘90s, the company has been doing exactly that with each car it produced. The story started with the 1,000PS Veyron, followed by the 1,200PS Veyron Super Sport. After producing the promised 500 units of the Veyron, Bugatti then launched the 1,500PS Chiron which will also be produced in the same numbers as its predecessor. In May this year, the company manufactured 100th Chiron which was tailor-made for a super-wealthy customer in the Middle East. That particular unit was priced at around Rs 22.84 crore.
Fast forward to the present. You think the production cap of 500 units is tiny? Think again, because, on August 24, 2018, Bugatti will unveil a model called the Divo and its production is limited to just 40 units. The world premiere is slated during an event called “The Quail – A Motorsports Gathering” in California, USA. Price? Every single unit will cost a whopping 5 million euros. Based on the current exchange rates, that’s about Rs 40.27 crore.
Bugatti has just released one teaser image and it shows the tag Divo embroidered on a panel. The model has been named after Albert Divo, a French racing driver who won the Targa Florio race on a mountainous circuit in Sicily for Bugatti twice in the late 1920s. The company says that the Divo will be light, agile and will boast enormous downforce and g-forces. That’s everything you need from a car to enter a racing competition. What’s more, the Bugatti Divo will also showcase a new design language.
Bugatti is known to concentrate on just one model at a time. The Divo will be a derivative of the Chiron. Question is, will the 40 units of the Divo be included in the 500-unit limited production of the car it is based on? Only time will tell.
