Saar: The ‘Sky View’ add-on brings two fixed glass panels in the roof above the driver’s and passenger’s seats.
Unlike the Veyron, the Bugatti Chiron doesn’t have an open-top option. And probably, it never will. For those who like to light their Chiron’s cabin with some natural light from above, Bugatti has unveiled an add-on for them. It is called ‘Sky View’. Customers opting for it will get two fixed glass panels in the roof above the driver’s and passenger’s seats. Each panel is just over 2 feet in length and nearly 1.5 feet in width. Bugatti says that the panels have a newly developed laminated structure comprising of thin glass and four intermediate layers.
As you’d expect, Bugatti’s engineering runs within each of those four layers. The eggheads have managed to develop the panels to keep the wind noise to the minimum, while infrared rays are reflected away to ensure utmost thermal comfort. The glass in tinted to prevent dazzle effects and protect the privacy of passengers. Moreover, the glass roof inserts filter out harmful ultraviolet radiations, such as UVA and UVB.
Bugatti claims that even after equipping the Chiron with the ‘Sky View’ option, the structural properties, including the stiffness and crash safety of the entire car is preserved. And the best part of the ‘Sky View’ add-on, it brings in an additional 27mm of headroom for both the driver and passenger. The company hasn’t revealed as how much will this optional extra cost but it did say that a Bugatti Chiron with Sky View will be showcased at the Monterey Car Week in California at the end of August 2018.
At the same event, Bugatti will also take the wraps off a limited-edition model – the Divo. A teaser was released earlier this month. The 2018 Monterey Car Week will also see the unveiling of the limited-run Bentley Mulsanne W.O. Edition By Mulliner. Automobili Pininfarina will also show off the concept of its first pure-electric hypercar, which is codenamed as PF0, in flesh but only to a bunch of people.
