Earlier this week, Hyundai released the first set of teaser images of the Verna facelift. Alongside, it unveiled the engine-transmission combinations and a snippet of the features list. Now, however, the South Korean carmaker has confirmed that the refreshed sedan will also pack an enhanced version of the Blue Link technology. For the uninitiated, the first model to boast the connected-car tech was the Venue.
Where the sub-4 metre SUV packs just over 30 different features under Blue Link, the Verna facelift will boast 45 of them, segmented under eight different categories. They are Safety; Security; Remote Services; Vehicle Relationship Management; Location-Based Services; Alert Services; Voice Recognition; and SmartWatch Services.
So, you get all the features from the Venue. That includes time-fencing, live vehicle location, speed alerts, real-time point of interest search, stolen vehicle tracking and remote climate control. The Verna, however, takes the game to a newer level with Wake-up Word – Hello Blue Link. Say that, and the system will not only help in dialling phone numbers, controlling the media and the navigation system but also provide weather information and cricket score updates.
The icing on top of the cake is the integration of Blue Link with Smart Watches running on Google, Apple or Samsung operating systems. Once linked, the owner can receive vehicle alerts, vehicle status information and control a few features using the watch itself. While most of the Blue Link features will be available in mid- to top-tier variants, only those equipped with automatic transmissions will be able to start/stop the engine and adjust climate control settings remotely.
The Verna was always the most feature-loaded product in its segment and Hyundai intends to keep it that way. Next week, the carmaker will launch the all-new Creta, for which it has already received more than 10,000 bookings. As for the Verna facelift, it should gain a price list before the end of the month.
