More Affordable Audi Models Coming In 2-3 Years: Rahil Ansari

Rahil Ansari, head, Audi India reportedly shared his views on the current state of affairs revolving the EV sphere. He said:

“The government has clearly sent a message that EV is the future and not hybrids while introducing the GST last year. For the past nine months, we have been working heavily on the infrastructure. We have set up a task force called Electrified India within the company to work on the EV launch in India. We are in a position to launch an EV in 2020 latest here in India but we will do so once the infrastructure is in place and there is clarity on all fronts. Launching is the easiest part.”

Ansari also pointed out that the Audi EV will not be anything like the EVs currently on sale in India. Unlike them, which run out of juice after a covering a maximum of 150km, the Audi EV will have a range of over 400km between charges. That’s quite similar to what Audi had shared about its first-ever EV, the e-tron. The Audi e-tron will be revealed in August this year and you can read all that we know about it here.
