After an absence of what felt like an eternity, the Q5 is back in the game. And it’s the latest version we’ve got. Like all other offerings, Audi has kept the refreshed Q5 a petrol-only model. However, there are two variants to choose from – Premium Plus and Technology. The former demands Rs 58.93 lakh, whereas the latter comes with a sticker price of Rs 63.77 lakh.
Both derivatives pack the same powerplant. It comprises a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 245bhp and 370Nm of peak torque. Although the motor is the same that also does duty in the A6 sedan, it offers 4bhp more in the new Q5. A 7-speed dual-clutch unit handles transmission duties. And to ensure little oomph goes to waste, the SUV has the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. According to Audi, the Q5 can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 6.3 seconds and reach 237kmph flat out.
As you’d expect, the variants differ on features. So, depending on which one you settle for, the list will include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, three-zone automatic climate control and 19-inch alloy wheels. Other features such as a wireless mobile charger, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, hands-free boot lid operation, multiple drive modes and suspension with damping control are also available.
Yes, there are a bunch of safety features and assistance systems on offer as well. For example, the SUV comes with eight airbags, Audi Park Assist, auto hold, cruise control, a rear-view camera and automatic start/stop.
So, there you have it. The new Audi Q5 is finally here. In India, it competes with a range of SUVs, including the Land Rover Discovery Sport, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Out of the lot, only the Audi and the Volvo are petrol-only models, while others also have diesel-fed versions. But, will that be a deal-breaker for you?
