It was in 2014 when Audi India first introduced A3 marque. Do the math and you’ll notice that the baby sedan has been with us for five years. To celebrate this occasion, the Indian arm of the German carmaker has made the car’s price list a lot more enticing. The range, which earlier started at Rs 33.12 lakh, now starts at Rs 28.99 lakh. That price is for the A3 35 TFSI Premium Plus variant. Here’s the rest of the new price list, in comparison to the old one:
- A3 35 TFSI Technology: Rs 30.99 lakh (New) | Rs 34.57 lakh (Old)
- A3 35 TDI Premium Plus: Rs 29.99 lakh (New) | Rs 34.93 lakh (Old)
- A3 35 TDI Technology: Rs 31.99 lakh (New) | Rs 36.12 lakh (Old)
In addition, Audi has also introduced the S line package for the A3. Go for it and your baby Audi will get sportier front and rear ends, side skirts, angrier radiator grille, a rear diffuser, chrome-draped tailpipes, illuminated door sill trims with S logo and S line branding on front fenders. Depending on the variant, the Audi A3 also comes with a panoramic sunroof, LED-powered headlamps, taillamps and dynamic indicators, Audi Phone box with wireless charging, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, a rear-view camera and a 7.0-inch infotainment unit mated to an 8-speaker sound system.
There are no mechanical changes to report. The 35 TFSI tag gets you a 1.4-litre, turbo-petrol engine which is good for 150PS/250Nm, whereas the 35 TDI variants are powered by a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel mill that churns out 143PS/320Nm. Both engines come coupled to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Audi claims that where the diesel can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 8.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 215kmph, the petrol can do the sprint in 8.2 seconds and top out at 222kmph. ARAI certified mileage figures for the diesel and petrol engines are 20.38kmpl and 19.2kmpl, respectively. In India, Audi A3’s sole direct rival is the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
