Saar: While it was revealed to the world in November last year, it entered production only in May this year.
Aston Martin has launched the all-new Vantage sportscar in India at a price of Rs 2.95 crore (ex-showroom, India). The low-slung two-seater was unveiled to the world in November last year. However, it entered production only in May this year. That means the difference between Vantage’s launch in India and it entering the production line in Gaydon, England, was just over four months. For the record, it is produced in the same factory where Aston Martin manufactures the Rapide S and the DB11.
Powering the new Aston Martin Vantage is a Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 that produces 510PS of power and 685Nm of torque. Mated to the power-plant is an 8-speed automatic transmission that routes the oomph to the rear wheels only. The setup is enough for the Aston Martin Vantage, which weighs 1,530kg unladen, to hit 100kmph from a standstill in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 314kmph.
To tame all that power, the new Vantage is packed with features like an electronic differential, adaptive damping system with multiple modes, dynamic stability control, hydraulic brake assist and traction control. As far as creature comforts are concerned, the baby Aston gets a heated rear screen, sports seats with memory function, tyre pressure monitoring system, dual-zone climate control, and front and rear parking sensors. If all that is a bit too poor for you, the standard kit also includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic side mirror tilt on reverse and keyless start/stop.
For India, only 20 units have been allocated for the time being. The company said that deliveries will commence early next year. As far as competition is concerned, the new Aston Martin Vantage will take on the likes of the Porsche 911 and the Mercedes-AMG GT.
