Saar: The company wants to rectify any potential emission issues for units manufactured between March 6 and December 1, last year.
Homegrown automaker Tata Motors has issued a voluntary recall for the diesel-powered versions of its sub-4 metre sedan, the Tigor. The company has said that it wants to inspect and rectify any potential emission issues for the pocket-friendly sedan. Tata Motors has mentioned that the affected lot of diesel-fed Tigors were manufactured between March 6, 2017, and December 1, 2017. All units with chassis numbers falling between the range MAT629401GKP52721 and MAT629401HKN89616 will be inspected for the fix.
Needless to say, the entire process will be carried out free of cost to the customer. The company has urged owners of Tigors which fall in the abovementioned criteria to get in touch with the nearest authorised workshop and get an appointment. If you don’t have the time, expect a call from the dealership itself.
As far as finding the chassis number is concerned, it is always part of the car’s registration certificate (RC) and also the purchase invoice. You can also find the chassis number embossed on the lower left-hand side of the body shell, behind the driver’s door. Tata Motors has also emphasised the fact that the affected lot of cars are safe to drive.
The Tigor is essentially an elongated version of the Tiago hatchback. Diesel versions for both the cars are powered by a 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder mill that puts out 70PS of power and 140Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission which feeds the oomph to the front wheels only.
In November last year, Tata Motors did introduce the option of an automated manual transmission (AMT) but only with the petrol engine. In June this year, the company introduced a limited-edition variant of the sub-4 metre sedan – the Tigor Buzz. Soon, Tata Motors will reveal a similar limited-edition variant of the Nexon and we’ve already seen some teasers for it.
