Let’s get straight to the point because this is serious. Mahindra has voluntarily triggered a recall for a certain number of XUV300 units. Why the vagueness? That’s because the homegrown automaker has not confirmed the exact count of units affected. What it has mentioned, however, is that they will undergo an inspection for a faulty suspension component. Car geeks would love to know which part in particular but unfortunately that information is not available either.

So, who all should be at their toes to get this fix done as soon as possible? Fish out your SUV’s registration documents and search for the month of manufacture. If you have misplaced it, the same can be pulled using the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). If the resulting information is anything up to May 2019, you must contact the nearest Mahindra dealership. Those who just cannot be bothered to do anything can wait for a call from the dealer itself. The company says that a limited batch of SUVs, manufactured until May 19, 2019, is part of this recall, and the entire process will be carried out at no cost to the customer.

The XUV300 has done pretty well to establish its creator in the hotly contested sub-4 metre SUV space. Launched in February this year, it had crossed 26,000 bookings by the first week of May. Less then two months later, Mahindra introduced two new variants, which introduced the AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) in the XUV300’s portfolio. The count of derivatives featuring the two-pedal setup increased to three in September with the introduction of the W6 AMT.

Apart from taking a slice or two out of its sibling’s (TUV300) market share, the Mahindra XUV300 also locks horns with the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and the Honda WR-V.
